About Me

I am Professor of English (Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies) at Northern Arizona University (NAU). This site houses my “course of life”--the professional pieces that make up an academic’s life, including publications, presentations, teaching materials, and more. Here's my vita if you'd like to see it all once.

Alongside the incomparable Cathryn Molloy, I serve as co-editor of the journal Rhetoric of Health and Medicine.

Before coming to NAU, I earned tenure in the Writing and Rhetoric Department at the University of Rhode Island. Prior to that I earned my MA and PhD at the Center for Writing Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before grad school, I taught middle school and high school English in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Tucson, Arizona. I am originally from Tucson and earned my BA in English and Spanish Education at the University of Arizona.

I delight in the Southwest and thrive in the outdoor experiences it provides.
